You get a lot of good value out of a single card even if you discard cards that are useless at the time, and the elemental tokens go a long way towards making sure you get full value

Going first has a slight advantage since the starting player has a chance to play cards before anyone else

While I did not provide a great example of a deck that differentiates between a 7 and 8, I do have a deck that is definitely at an 8 in comparison to the 7 provided in the Esika Planeswalker tribal deck
