This isnt an ideal world, though, so its very hard to focus on the positives of this latest MTG set when theyre accompanied by major caveats
The Rakdos enchantment steals a card off an opponent's deck and punishes them with life loss when you cast it, talk about nasty
Its much like Purphoros, God of the Forge in that it chips away at everyone at once
The deck runs a lot of situationally great cards, from Nihil Spellbomb to ruin Reanimator decks to Silumgar, the Drifting Death locking down Go Wide strategies
Five life is quite a lot to pay in todays Commander metagame, but this feels costed just right as something that will cost life on crucial or early turns and otherwise just cost three mana
Its the printing of new support cards which can cover these crucial areas of need which has triggered the discard deck renaissance, more so even than the quality of discard spells themselves
