The barrier is made from blow moulded HDPE (high density polyethelyne) that has been UV stabilised to prevent it from becoming brittle in sunlight. The barrier falls into two categories as it is both a chapter 8 barrier and a manhole barrier. The portagate barrier is often seen being used by telecoms, water and gas utility works
